Apple TV+’s ‘Palm Royale’ transformed a glamorous Palm Beach mansion into a war zone in one of Season 2’s most talked-about moments. The extended brawl, which appears in the episode “Maxine Finds Herself,” has drawn significant attention after helping the series achieve Emmy history.
The scene features Maxine’s lookalike twin Mirabelle going head-to-head with Raquel in a chaotic fight that tears through the Dellacorte mansion, down staircases and finally into the swimming pool. What sets it apart from typical television fights is the sheer length the sequence runs for nearly three minutes, far longer than the standard 10 to 20 seconds viewers usually see on screen.
Stunt coordinator Mallory Thompson had a clear vision for the sequence: make it over-the-top and deliberately theatrical. Rather than playing it straight, the team looked to 1980s television hits like ‘Dynasty’ for inspiration, channeling that show’s signature extravagant catfights.
The choreography made full use of the setting, incorporating furniture, household objects, staircases and the pool itself. This allowed the action to flow throughout the mansion rather than staying confined to one room.
Thompson explained that the original script called for a simple “Dynasty”-style fight, which gave the stunt team freedom to push boundaries and dream up increasingly ambitious moments.
The length of the sequence was unusual for television. While most TV fights wrap up in seconds, Thompson’s team choreographed nearly three minutes of continuous action. The performers had to nail complicated movements while keeping the show’s comedic tone intact—all while destroying parts of the mansion, tumbling down stairs and chasing each other across the property before the climactic pool plunge.
That blend of physical comedy, intricate choreography and period-perfect styling turned the scene into one of Palm Royale’s standout moments.
The stunt work didn’t go unnoticed by the industry. *Palm Royale* earned Emmy nominations for Outstanding Stunt Coordination for Comedy Programming and Outstanding Stunt Performance.
Thompson received a nomination for stunt coordination, while Colby Lemmo and Sonja Wajih were recognized for stunt performance. The nominations marked a first: the first time an all-women stunt team from the same series earned simultaneous nominations in both categories since the stunt-performer category was introduced.
The recognition underscores just how much preparation and physical labor went into executing the sequence safely while maintaining the show’s deliberately over-the-top aesthetic.
‘Palm Royale’ stars Kristen Wiig as Maxine, an ambitious newcomer determined to break into Palm Beach’s exclusive elite circle. The ensemble cast includes Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Kaia Gerber and Carol Burnett.
Season 2 debuted on Apple TV+ on November 12, 2025, running for 10 episodes through January 14, 2026. The season followed Maxine as she navigated high society while juggling scandals, secrets and increasingly messy relationships, pushing the series’ signature blend of comedy, mystery and glamour even further.
Despite the accolades surrounding Season 2, ‘Palm Royale’ won’t be returning for a third season. Apple TV+ ended the series after two seasons in March 2026.
For viewers, though, that elaborate fight sequence remains a perfect snapshot of what made ‘Palm Royale’ special: high-fashion visuals, dark comedy and surprisingly ambitious action all wrapped up in the world of Palm Beach society.
‘Palm Royale’ is now available to stream on Apple TV+.
