Selena Gomez finally put an end to the Swiftie fan theories by saying that Taylor Swift’s song “Dorothea” from the 2020 album Evermore is about her. The news came out on the March 3, 2026, episode of Friends Keep Secrets, which was hosted by her husband Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky. Gomez said that the song is about their teenage years together dealing with fame, love, and dreams of Hollywood.

Because of lines like “You’re a queen selling dreams, selling makeup and magazines,” which refer to Gomez’s Rare Beauty brand, fans have long wondered. Other lyrics talk about a girl from a small town who wants to be famous, which is like her journey from Texas to LA, and they promise that their friendship will last. Swift first said that Dorothea was made up, but Gomez’s words make it real.

Gomez also said that Swift wrote a song called “Family” about their relationship more than ten years ago. The lyrics “In every crowd, I still see you” made her want to act even more. Gomez’s dream of being in movies and Swift’s dream of playing in stadiums have both come true. Their 17-year friendship has seen them go through breakups, get engaged (Gomez to Blanco and Swift to Travis Kelce), and Swift give Gomez a painting for her 30th birthday.
