Prime Video’s hit romance series Off Campus is shifting gears for its second season, and star Stephen Kalyn says fans should expect a lot more vulnerability from his character Dean Di Laurentis.
Stephen Kalyn reveals insights about his character Dean in Off Campus Season 2, focusing on vulnerability and depth.
After Season 1 wrapped up Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham’s story, the show is now turning its attention to Dean and Allie Hayes, played by Kalyn and Mika Abdalla. The move mirrors Elle Kennedy’s bestselling book series, which follows a different couple each installment while keeping the broader friend group in the picture.
Kalyn hinted that there’s much more to Dean than the party-loving guy audiences saw in the first season. The actor said he deliberately wove moments of insecurity into his performance early on, and Season 2 will dive deeper into Dean’s background and what makes him tick behind closed doors.
“I felt an instant connection to the character,” Kalyn said, noting that his fiancée Victoria Lovatsis—already a fan of Kennedy’s novels—encouraged him to audition and believed he was the right fit for the role.
The chemistry between Dean and Allie started brewing in the latter half of Season 1, with Kalyn describing Episode 6 as a “sneak peek” of what’s coming next.
Co-star Mika Abdalla promised that Season 2 will push both characters emotionally, forcing them to face their deepest insecurities. She also teased a more vulnerable Allie while keeping the wit that made fans love her in the first place.
Prime Video greenlit Season 2 before Season 1 even finished airing, a vote of confidence in the show’s growing fanbase. The next chapter is already in production, though an official premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.
