The Batman Part II Delayed Yet Again, Now Coming in 2028

Robert Pattinson fans will have to keep waiting. Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that ‘The Batman Part II’ won’t hit theaters until February 18, 2028—pushing back the release from its previously scheduled October 1, 2027 date. It’s the latest setback for the highly anticipated sequel.

The delay means nearly six years will have passed between the original 2022 film and its follow-up, one of the longest gaps between superhero franchise installments in recent memory.

But director Matt Reeves did offer fans something to chew on: a first look at Robert Pattinson’s redesigned Batsuit. The updated costume features a new cowl with noticeably longer bat ears and a darker, more comic book-inspired aesthetic. The brief camera test footage quickly went viral, with fans praising the fresh take on the Dark Knight’s iconic look.

Warner Bros. hasn’t explained the delay in detail, but industry insiders point to multiple culprits. The 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes disrupted production early on, and Reeves has made clear he won’t rush the script. The effects-heavy film also requires significant post-production work.

Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, alongside Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell reprising his role as the Penguin. Warner Bros. has hinted at new cast additions but hasn’t confirmed details.
