The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography has officially changed its name to TorunCamerimage, a move that anchors the prestigious event more firmly to its home in Toruń, Poland.
The rebrand reflects the festival’s commitment to the historic medieval city, which has served as its permanent base since 2019. Organizers say the new name strengthens Toruń’s identity as a major cultural hub while maintaining the “Camerimage” brand that cinematographers and filmmakers recognize globally.
“The shift ties the festival more closely to its historic home,” organizers explained, noting that Toruń’s UNESCO-listed status makes it an ideal cultural flagship for the event.
The festival’s ambitions extend beyond the name change. Planners are developing the European Film Centre Camerimage, a sprawling cultural and production facility backed by approximately $160 million in state and regional funding. The center will operate year-round, hosting workshops, training programs, and production facilities that aim to make Toruń a permanent destination for cinematography professionals and visual storytellers.
For industry professionals, the rebrand signals continuity rather than radical change. ToruńCamerimage continues its singular focus on the craft of cinematography, with awards spanning feature films, television, and music videos. The festival maintains its traditional November schedule, but now with a stronger geographic and cultural identity that industry insiders say will elevate its global standing.
