Before the film reaches cinemas, Devgn opened up about its new direction. He also discussed director Abhishek Pathak’s vision and explained why the team decided to end Vijay’s journey with this film.
Over the years, Vijay Salgaonkar has become much more than a fictional character. He has turned into a household name, thanks to his calm nature, clever planning and ability to stay several steps ahead.
However, things are different this time. In Drishyam The Conclusion, Vijay faces a new and dangerous opponent. SP Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar brings fresh tension to the franchise’s final chapter.
A Completely New Story for Drishyam 3
During a panel at FICCI Frames, Ajay Devgn revealed that the upcoming film is not simply a continuation of an earlier idea.
Instead, the makers developed a completely new script. Devgn made it clear that this version of Drishyam 3 is very different from the original concept.
“The original one they did not have Akshay Khanna’s character as such but 3 is a completely new script,” Devgn said.
As a result, the film brings a fresh approach to the familiar world of Vijay Salgaonkar. The story is designed to take the franchise in a new direction while still keeping its core elements intact.
Two Years of Work Behind the Script
A strong thriller needs a carefully constructed story. Therefore, the writing process became one of the most important parts of the film.
Devgn revealed that Abhishek Pathak and the writing team spent nearly two years developing the screenplay. That long process allowed them to shape the story and strengthen its key twists.
“The way Abhishek and the writers have worked so hard on the script for the past maybe two years that it really really gives you a high,” Devgn shared.
Clearly, the team wanted to make this chapter more than just another sequel. Instead, they focused on creating a story that could bring Vijay’s journey to a proper conclusion.

Devgn also praised Abhishek Pathak for bringing the script to life.
According to the actor, the screenplay developed into something the team felt confident about. Moreover, Pathak’s execution helped turn that vision into a finished film.
“The way it has shaped up the scripting and the way Abhishek has made the film, I think it has come out fabulous,” Devgn said.
That confidence eventually led to an important decision. The makers felt that this story had the right elements to serve as the franchise finale.
“That’s when we decided that it should be the conclusion,” he added.
Vijay Salgaonkar Faces His Toughest Challenge
Vijay has always survived by staying ahead of his opponents. He studies situations carefully and plans his next move before anyone else can react.
This time, however, he faces a fresh challenge. Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar enters the story and puts Vijay under renewed pressure.
As a result, the central conflict becomes even more intriguing. Can Vijay outsmart his latest opponent? Or will Rajveer finally uncover the truth that has remained hidden for so long?
That question could become one of the film’s biggest attractions.
A Power-Packed Cast Returns
Alongside Ajay Devgn, Drishyam The Conclusion features an impressive ensemble.
Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor return to the franchise. Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj and Kamlesh Sawant add further weight to the cast.
Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav are also part of the film. Together, the ensemble brings back the characters and relationships that have shaped Vijay’s story.
Therefore, fans can expect the finale to balance its new conflict with familiar faces.
Abhishek Pathak Leads the Finale
Abhishek Pathak returns as director for Drishyam The Conclusion. He has also written the film alongside Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh.
The film is produced by Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. It is presented by Star Studio18 and produced by Panorama Studios.
With a fresh screenplay and a returning cast, the film aims to close the story on its own terms.
