The idea of being camera-ready has changed dramatically in today’s entertainment industry, says actor Amal Sehrawat. While good looks and physical fitness still matter, he believes audiences now value authenticity, emotional honesty, and powerful performances much more than flawless appearances.
Having made his Bollywood debut with Satya 2 and later appearing in Sarkar 3, Sehrawat says the rise of OTT platforms and content-driven storytelling has redefined what makes an actor stand out. Today, genuine emotions and believable performances leave a far stronger impact than conventional glamour.
Camera-Ready Means More Than Good Looks
For years, actors were judged mainly by their appearance. Perfect skin, toned physiques, and glamorous looks were considered essential. However, Sehrawat believes those standards have changed significantly.
“I think the definition of being ‘camera-ready’ has evolved tremendously. Earlier, the focus was primarily on appearance—having the right physique, perfect skin, and looking glamorous. While those things still matter to an extent, they’re no longer enough,” he says.
According to him, today’s audiences are more discerning. Instead of perfection, they look for honesty, relatability, and emotional depth.

Moreover, the changing entertainment landscape has accelerated this shift. With OTT platforms producing diverse and character-driven stories, actors no longer have to fit a conventional image to succeed.
Instead, casting now focuses on whether an actor genuinely fits the role.

“Today, the camera captures authenticity more than perfection. Audiences connect with honesty, vulnerability, and real emotions. Thanks to OTT platforms and content-driven cinema, we’ve seen actors from all walks of life being celebrated because they fit the character, not because they fit a conventional image.”
As a result, the industry has become more inclusive while placing greater importance on performance over appearance.
Preparation Goes Beyond Physical Fitness
Even though fitness remains important, Sehrawat believes being camera-ready is about much more than maintaining a good physique.
For him, true preparation is holistic.
“It’s about maintaining my fitness, eating right, getting enough rest, constantly training as an actor, and keeping my mind calm and focused. When you take care of yourself consistently, confidence naturally reflects on screen.”
Furthermore, he says confidence cannot be created with styling or makeup alone. Instead, it comes from discipline, preparation, and consistent self-care.
Truth Leaves a Lasting Impression
According to Sehrawat, authenticity remains an actor’s greatest strength.
While appearance may help someone get noticed, memorable performances are built on truth.
“I’ve always believed that the best thing an actor can bring to the camera is truth. A fit body and good grooming may get you noticed, but it’s your authenticity and performance that make people remember you. That’s what being camera-ready means to me today.”

Instead, it is about discovering new strengths and expanding one’s abilities.
“Reinvention isn’t about changing who you are; it’s about discovering new dimensions of yourself.”

Sehrawat says growth never stops. In fact, he actively invests in improving himself both professionally and personally.
“For me, evolution is a continuous process. I invest time in training, maintaining my fitness, observing people, reading, and staying open to new experiences because they all contribute to my performances. Confidence also comes from preparation—the more you work on yourself, the more naturally it reflects on screen.”
According to him, every new experience ultimately makes him a better performer.
