D4vd Arrested in Teen Murder Case: LAPD Details

On April 16, 2026, the Los Angeles Police arrested David Anthony Burke, who goes by the name D4vd, for the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. In September 2025, her decaying body was found in the trunk of a Tesla that was being towed and was registered to the singer. D4vd is being held without bail until April 20, 2026, when the case goes to the District Attorney’s office. His team says he is innocent and is working with the police.

On April 5, 2024, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was 14 years old, went missing from Lake Elsinore. During a routine check of a tow yard in Los Angeles, police found her body. The investigation picked up speed when Neo Langston, a friend of D4vd’s, was arrested in January 2026 for not showing up as a witness.

D4vd was born on March 28, 2005. He started his career by making original songs for Fortnite montages so he wouldn’t get in trouble for copyright. His music is a mix of lo-fi pop, R&B, and indie rock. In 2022, TikTok went crazy for songs like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here with Me,” which led to deals with Darkroom and Interscope Records. He released his first album, Withered, in April 2025. His world tour was canceled because of early rumors of an investigation.

If you like D4vd’s alt-R&B indie sound, you can find similar artists like Keshi, who is known for emotional ballads; Wave to Earth, who makes dreamy soundscapes; and Beabadoobee, who mixes indie rock with other styles. Clairo for introspective pop, Steve Lacy for genre-mixing grooves, and Toro y Moi for lo-fi experimentation are some other active options. These musicians have busy touring schedules and new albums coming out in 2026.
