Jonah Hill’s upcoming comedy Cut Off has sparked Hollywood buzz after Warner Bros. removed it from its summer release schedule. The move fueled reports that the studio considered the film “unreleasable.” Warner Bros., however, has firmly denied those claims. The studio says the project simply needs more time to complete.
Warner Bros. denies claims Jonah Hill's Cut Off is unreleasable after its release date was removed, saying the comedy is still in post-production.
Hill directed, co-wrote, and stars in Cut Off. The film was originally scheduled to premiere on July 17, 2026. Earlier this year, Warner Bros. quietly removed it from the release calendar without announcing a new date. That decision quickly fueled speculation about the movie’s future.
Puck News reported that insiders described the film as “unreleasable,” pointing to possible creative problems. Warner Bros. swiftly rejected the report.
A studio spokesperson called the claims “inaccurate.” Hill’s representatives said Cut Off is still in post-production and has not been completed. Sources familiar with the project added that the studio simply wanted more time before releasing the comedy. They expect Warner Bros. to announce a new release date once post-production is finished.
Cut Off follows two spoiled siblings whose privileged lives fall apart after their parents cut off their financial support. Forced to survive on their own, they must learn to live without the family fortune.
Hill leads an ensemble cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Nathan Lane, Bette Midler, Adriana Barraza, Camila Cabello, Langston Kerman, Chelsea Peretti, and Cary Christopher. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Ezra Woods.
The comedy marks Hill’s latest directing project. It follows the coming-of-age drama Mid90s, the documentary Stutz, and the dark comedy Outcome. Hill continues to balance directing, writing, and acting across multiple projects.
Warner Bros. has not announced a new release date for Cut Off. The studio and Hill’s representatives insist the delay is due to post-production, not quality concerns. Fans now await an official release update.
