Prime Video isn’t letting go of Barry’s Bay just yet. Just weeks after the romantic drama ‘Every Year After’ hit the streaming platform, the network has officially greenlit a second season, with showrunner Amy B. Harris returning to oversee the expansion of the beloved universe.
Prime Video renews Every Year After for Season 2. The new season will adapt Carley Fortune's One Golden Summer, focusing on Charlie Florek and expanding the Barry's Bay story.
The quick renewal is a clear vote of confidence in the adaptation of Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel ‘Every Summer After’, which chronicles the decades-long romance between childhood friends Percy Fraser and Sam Florek.
Rather than simply picking up where Season 1 left off, Season 2 will chart new territory by adapting Fortune’s follow-up novel, ‘One Golden Summer’. The upcoming season will turn its attention to Charlie Florek, Sam’s older brother, allowing the show to explore fresh storylines while keeping viewers rooted in the Barry’s Bay setting.
Harris will reprise her role as showrunner and executive producer for the next chapter.
Before the renewal announcement, Harris had already hinted at her larger vision for the series—one that stretched far beyond adapting a single book. She suggested that the emotional ripples from the characters’ decisions continue well past one summer, which is precisely why the show is called ‘Every Year After’ rather than ‘Every Summer After’.
The second season is expected to introduce fresh faces while maintaining ties to the original cast.
‘Every Year After’, which premiered earlier this month, stars Sadie Soverall as Percy and Matt Cornett as Sam, with Michael Bradway taking a larger role as Charlie in Season 2. The series has already struck a chord with romance enthusiasts drawn to its dual timelines and emotional depth.
With another Fortune novel ready to adapt, Prime Video is clearly banking on ‘Every Year After’ becoming a long-running romance franchise. Details on production and casting for Season 2 are expected soon.
