Netflix’s ‘Crew Girl’ Brings Rowing, Romance and Drama to the Streaming Service

Netflix just dropped the first trailer for its latest young adult sports drama, ‘Crew Girl,’ and it stars rising talent Miku Martineau in the lead role. The series tells the story of a promising teenage rower whose world gets turned upside down after a family scandal forces her to reinvent herself at an elite East Coast prep school.

Martineau plays Teagan Tao, a gifted 16-year-old single sculler whose rowing career hits a major roadblock. After moving with her mother, Ella (Jessica Paré), Teagan arrives at Easton Prep ready for a fresh start. But there’s a catch: the school doesn’t have a girls’ rowing team.

Not one to let that stop her, Teagan makes a bold move. She volunteers as the coxswain for Easton Prep’s infamously messy boys’ varsity crew team. The decision puts her in charge of a group of athletes who aren’t exactly thrilled to have a teenage girl calling the shots.

The new trailer hints at plenty of conflict both on and off the water. Teagan quickly finds herself at odds with the team’s captain, Josh Regis (Sam Braun), a confident and cocky athlete who doesn’t appreciate her leadership style. But there’s also Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark), a quiet and determined local boy who seems to understand her better than most.

The show promises a complicated love triangle, intense team dynamics and the kind of personal drama that comes with being a teenager trying to prove yourself in a cutthroat world.

Beyond the romance and rivalry, the series digs into Teagan’s strained relationship with her mother and the family issues that sparked their move in the first place. As she navigates school, new friendships and the pressure of commanding a struggling team, Teagan has a lot on her plate.

The ensemble includes Braun, Clark, Paré, Thomas Cadrot, Connor Paton, Jude Wilson, Olga Petsa, Sage Linder and Riley Davis. The series was created and developed by Vivian Lin, who also executive produces alongside Jeff Norton, Lindsay Macadam, Hillary Zwick Turner, Tony Chung and Lori Massini.

‘Crew Girl’ drops on Netflix September 10, 2026, and will be available worldwide on the platform. With Martineau leading the charge and a premise that blends competitive sports with classic teen drama elements, this one’s shaping up to be a must-watch for the fall season.
