Jyoti Tiwari on Peace: “Focus on What Connects Us”

Actress Jyoti Tiwari, known for playing Suhasini in Hui Gumm Yaadein, has opened up about her thoughts on peace, empathy and reconciliation. Interestingly, her perspective goes beyond simply avoiding conflict.

For Tiwari, peace starts from within. It means staying calm, accepting situations and letting go of things that cannot be controlled.

“When your mind is at peace, you don’t feel the need to constantly react, prove something, or carry unnecessary negativity,” she explains.

Moreover, the actress believes that patience, kindness and understanding can transform everyday relationships. Although people may have different opinions and backgrounds, their basic emotional needs are often similar.

What Does Peace Really Mean?

For Jyoti Tiwari, peace is much more than staying away from arguments. Instead, it is about developing inner calm and changing the way we respond to difficult situations.

Rather than reacting instantly, she believes people should pause and listen. As a result, many small disagreements can be prevented from becoming bigger conflicts.

In her view, staying peaceful does not mean ignoring problems. Instead, it means dealing with them without allowing unnecessary negativity to take over.

Why Empathy Matters

When it comes to relationships, Tiwari strongly believes in the power of empathy. She feels that people do not always have to agree, but they should at least try to understand one another.

“I don’t think lasting peace is possible without understanding and empathy,” she shares.

According to the actress, understanding another person’s perspective can completely change a conversation. Therefore, a disagreement does not always have to turn into a major conflict.

Listening also plays a key role. Sometimes, simply giving someone the space to speak can prevent misunderstandings and create healthier communication.

Small Acts Can Create Peace

Interestingly, Tiwari does not believe that creating peace always requires major efforts. Instead, she points towards simple actions that people can practise every day.

Being kind, listening patiently and avoiding impulsive reactions can make a difference. Even a thoughtful word, she believes, can brighten someone’s day.

“We are so quick to judge, argue or respond when we could just pause and listen,” she says.

This idea becomes even more relevant in the digital age. Online, people often respond instantly. However, choosing patience instead can help reduce unnecessary arguments and negativity.

Focus on What Connects Us

Despite differences in opinions, backgrounds and interests, Jyoti Tiwari believes people have many things in common.

At the heart of it, everyone wants love, respect, security and happiness. These shared emotions can become a bridge between people from completely different walks of life.

“We all want love, respect, security and happiness,” she explains.

Therefore, Tiwari believes society should focus more on common ground instead of constantly highlighting differences. Recognising shared emotions can encourage better understanding.

Of course, this does not mean ignoring differences. Rather, it means learning to respect them while remembering the things that connect us.

Peace Starts With Everyday Behaviour

Tiwari also believes that creating a peaceful society is a shared responsibility. Institutions and governments have an important role, but individuals and communities matter too.

“I think it has to begin at both levels. Institutions and governments have a huge responsibility, but individuals and communities also have a role to play,” she says.

At the same time, change can begin at a much smaller level. The way people speak at home, communicate with others and handle disagreements can have a wider impact.

In other words, peace does not only come from large-scale changes. It can also begin with everyday choices.

Reconciliation Does Not Mean Forgetting

Tiwari also shares a thoughtful perspective on reconciliation. According to her, moving forward does not mean pretending that painful experiences never happened.

“You can acknowledge the hurt, learn from it, set your boundaries and still choose peace,” she says.

That distinction is important. Reconciliation does not require someone to erase their memories or ignore their feelings.

Instead, it can mean accepting what happened, learning from it and deciding not to carry anger forever.

The Importance of Letting Go

For Tiwari, letting go of anger can be an important part of healing. However, she also believes that people should maintain healthy boundaries.

The actress advocates balance. People can acknowledge their pain without allowing it to control every future interaction.

At the same time, choosing peace does not mean accepting everything. Rather, it can mean protecting your own peace while refusing to remain trapped in negativity.

A Message That Goes Beyond Television

Through her reflections, Jyoti Tiwari offers a message that goes beyond her role as Suhasini in Hui Gumm Yaadein. Her thoughts touch on relationships, communication and the choices people make every day.

Ultimately, she encourages people to listen more, react less and approach differences with empathy.

Rather than expecting everyone to think alike, Tiwari believes there is greater value in recognising what people share.

And perhaps that is the heart of her message: differences will always exist, but understanding can help us live with them more peacefully.
