Kanye West’s concert at Marseille’s Orange Vélodrome on June 11 has been put off indefinitely. This is because French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez thought about stopping the show because of the rapper’s past antisemitic and pro-Nazi comments. The 48-year-old artist, who is now called Ye, said on X that he made the decision “after much thought and consideration” to keep fans from having to choose between two things. This comes after the UK government recently denied him entry to his headline slot at the Wireless Festival, which is part of a larger European tour that has been met with criticism.
West’s problems come from his repeated antisemitic and racist comments and praise for Adolf Hitler, which have led to a lot of people not wanting to see him perform. French news outlets said that Nuñez was “extremely determined” to stop the show, but there are legal problems with outright bans unless public order is at risk. Ye took responsibility for X and promised to “make reparations” while putting supporters first.
As of now, Ye’s website still lists other stops on his 2026 European tour, including Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey. According to current reports, a planned show in New Delhi at the end of May is also still on. Fans are waiting for more information about the Marseille show, which is still under review.
