Meghan McCain Takes Aim at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Over U.K. Return Plans

Meghan McCain didn’t hold back this week when commenting on reports that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are planning to spend more time in the United Kingdom.

The former ‘The View’ co-host lashed out at the couple on social media after news broke that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are considering an extended return to Britain with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. McCain called them “entitled grifters” and “D-list royals,” suggesting they’ve failed to gain traction in America.

On August 19, McCain took to X to share her thoughts, claiming Americans can “see through” the couple’s antics. She even threw in a tongue-in-cheek jab at the British, quipping that the Sussexes were now “your problem.”

The comments surfaced just days after reports indicated Harry and Meghan were preparing for a major shift after years of living in California. The pair stepped away from their roles as working royals in 2020 and settled in Montecito, where they’ve spent the past several years building their media and business ventures.

According to reports, Harry and Meghan are looking to divide their time between California and the U.K., with their children potentially enrolling in British schools. It’s a significant move for a family that has made its home on the West Coast since leaving the royal fold.

That said, sources stress the couple won’t be returning as working royals. They’re expected to maintain their private status and keep their distance from official royal duties.

Still, the return would put them in closer proximity to family members they’ve been at odds with in recent years.

McCain’s latest criticism is hardly her first volley at the Sussexes. She’s previously taken issue with Meghan’s various entertainment projects, including her Netflix series ‘With Love, Meghan’, and has been vocal about the couple’s shift from royal life to entrepreneurship.

She’s not alone in her skepticism either. British broadcaster Piers Morgan and other commentators have also fired back since word of the move got out.

While a permanent return to royal duties doesn’t appear to be in the cards, Harry and Meghan’s increased presence in Britain could reignite questions about their fractured relationship with King Charles and the wider royal family.

For now, McCain’s barbs have added fresh fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding the couple. As they prepare for their next chapter across the Atlantic, all eyes will likely remain on how their relationship with the royals evolves and what else the public figures they’ve tangled with might say about it.
