Milo Yiannopoulos Detained by ICE After Feud-Fueled Tip-Off

Milo Yiannopoulos has entered U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody after authorities arrested him at a Louisiana airport Thursday. The Department of Homeland Security said officers took the British-born political commentator into custody at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. DHS said Yiannopoulos will remain detained while officials arrange his removal from the United States.

DHS said Yiannopoulos legally entered the United States in May 2019. However, he later overstayed his visa. An immigration judge issued a removal order on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to attend a scheduled hearing. ICE has since taken custody of him as the agency moves ahead with the removal process.

The case has also gained attention because of Yiannopoulos’ public feud with far-right activist Laura Loomer. Loomer has claimed that she alerted both ICE and the FBI about Yiannopoulos’ immigration status. However, independent sources have not verified her account.

Yiannopoulos and Loomer have repeatedly attacked each other on social media. Their disputes have focused on their political activities and their positions within conservative circles. His detention has now added another chapter to their ongoing conflict.

Yiannopoulos built his profile as a provocative conservative commentator and became a prominent figure at Breitbart News. He left the organization in 2017 after widespread backlash over controversial comments involving relationships between adults and minors.

The controversy also cost him a planned book deal. The Conservative Political Action Conference, meanwhile, withdrew his invitation to speak. Yiannopoulos continued working within right-wing political circles after leaving Breitbart. He also worked professionally with Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

His detention has attracted particular attention because Yiannopoulos has previously supported aggressive immigration enforcement.

In a 2025 social media post, he called for ICE checkpoints in public spaces. He also supported immediately deporting people who could not prove they had legal status in the United States. His current situation now places his own immigration status under federal scrutiny.

Yiannopoulos remains in ICE custody while authorities proceed with his removal. It remains unclear whether he has hired an attorney or intends to challenge the removal order. DHS has said officials will keep him in custody pending his deportation.

The case also continues to fuel attention around his long-running dispute with Loomer, whose claim that she alerted federal authorities has yet to receive independent confirmation.
