Motörhead’s Phil Campbell Dead at 64 After Surgery

Phil Campbell, the guitarist for Motörhead for a long time, died at the age of 64 after a big surgery. His family shared the news on social media, saying he died peacefully after a “long and brave battle in intensive care.”

In 1984, Campbell joined Motörhead and stayed with them for over 31 years, making him the band’s longest-serving guitarist. He wrote riffs for 16 studio albums, starting with Orgasmatron in 1986, and continuing with songs like “Deaf Forever,” “Eat the Rich,” and “Born to Raise Hell.” After the death of frontman Lemmy Kilmister in 2015, the band broke up.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell,” said sons Todd, Dane, and Tyla. They asked for privacy and called him “Bampi,” saying he was a “devoted husband, wonderful father, and proud grandfather.”
