Tom Holland’s latest web-slinging adventure has shattered records, becoming Sony Pictures’ highest-grossing film ever after crossing the $2 billion mark worldwide in just three weekends. The Marvel blockbuster has now eclipsed 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which previously held the studio record with $1.92 billion globally.
The superhero sequel showed no signs of slowing down during its third weekend in theaters, raking in an estimated $70 million domestically and $118.7 million internationally. Those numbers pushed its U.S. and Canada total to approximately $785.8 million, while its worldwide haul climbed to roughly $2.02 billion making it only the eighth film ever to reach that milestone.
Despite several new releases hitting multiplexes, nothing could knock Spider-Man off its perch at the box office. Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” held steady in second place, earning approximately $23.2 million domestically during its fifth weekend and surpassing $1.2 billion worldwide.
Two newcomers battled for third place. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor’s action film “The End of Oak Street” opened with about $21 million domestically and $47 million globally. Nipping at its heels was “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie,” which earned an estimated $20.5 million domestically in its opening weekend while pulling in $69 million worldwide, particularly strong among international audiences.
The web-slinger’s blockbuster success is part of a broader resurgence at the summer box office. Domestic revenue is running 5.7 percent ahead of summer 2019 and 19.4 percent above 2025 figures, signaling a robust recovery for theatrical entertainment.
For Sony, however, the real victory is clear: Spider-Man has firmly cemented itself as the studio’s most profitable franchise ever, with more weeks of box-office dominance likely still to come.
