Trump Posts AI Video of Himself as Doctor, Sparks Debate Over Deepfakes in Politics

Donald Trump has once again stirred the pot, this time by posting an AI-generated video that casts him as “Dr. Trump,” treating famous Hollywood celebrities for what he calls “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

The roughly 90-second satirical clip, which Trump shared on his Truth Social platform before it spread across social media, features artificially created versions of celebrities who have openly criticized him—including Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, Edward Norton and John Leguizamo.

In the video, the AI-generated celebrities describe over-the-top symptoms supposedly brought on by their opposition to Trump. The “treatment” offered by the fictional doctor comes with tongue-in-cheek prescriptions: avoid “fake news,” say prayers and drink Diet Coke—a nod to Trump’s well-known beverage preference.

The post has reignited heated discussions about the use of generative AI in political messaging. Trump’s supporters hailed it as political humor, but detractors raised serious concerns about using AI-generated likenesses of real people without their permission. The video also marks another entry in Trump’s recent string of AI-generated content, highlighting the increasingly blurry line between satire and deepfakes in modern politics.
