A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD – Movie Review

By Arun Sajnani

‘A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD’ – The title – “A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD” is a bit misleading. As an audience I personally felt that this film will pay homage to Mr. Rogers in a biopic way. It was that kid show that showed how to deal with real life situations, with puppets as well, in child like way on television in the 70’s.

But this film is is actually based on an article that was published by a journalist for Esquire Magazine, that examines more of their one on one relationship after their many meetings there after. The journalist had come form a broken home, where the father had walked out them at a young age. The film becomes more like a psychiatrist meets a patient for therapy.

I expected more rather than expecting predictability as usual. However, Tom Hanks as Mr. Fred Rogers gives a earnest and humble performance with sincerity, that gives this film some credibility. The film gets a 2 and a half star recommendation. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
