Actor Aadesh Chaudhary on reality shows has shared his views on reality television, stardom and the changing world of celebrity culture. Known for his work in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Aadesh believes audiences now want more than fictional characters.
Instead, they want to know the person behind the celebrity. That is also why reality shows continue to attract strong attention.
Shows such as Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Roadies, Lock Upp and Rise and Fall have become major parts of the entertainment landscape. According to Aadesh, their biggest strength is the emotional connection they create with viewers.
Why Reality Shows Connect With Audiences
Aadesh believes reality television offers something fiction cannot always provide. While viewers connect with an actor through a character, reality shows allow them to see the celebrity as a person.
“I think it’s beautiful that people invest their time and emotion. It shows the power of connection,” Aadesh says.
Moreover, contestants are placed in situations that reveal their fears, strengths and reactions. As a result, viewers get to see personalities beyond their professional image.
Audiences Want Authenticity
For Aadesh, authenticity is a major reason behind the popularity of reality television. Today, audiences are not only looking for polished performances. They also want moments that feel genuine.
“People want to see the real person behind the character,” he says.
Therefore, shows like Bigg Boss, Khatron Ke Khiladi and Roadies can create a stronger connection with viewers. They test contestants on a personal level rather than simply showcasing their professional skills.
Is Reality TV a Shortcut to Fame?
Reality television can certainly provide huge visibility. However, Aadesh does not consider it a simple shortcut to success.
Instead, he describes it as a “double-edged sword.” A contestant may gain massive attention within a few months. At the same time, that visibility comes with intense public scrutiny.
“You can’t hide behind a script,” Aadesh says.
Consequently, reality television can reveal both strengths and weaknesses. Every reaction can become part of the public conversation.
Fame Is Only the Beginning
Aadesh also believes there is a clear difference between getting attention and building a lasting career.
“For some, it’s a resurrection, for some it’s a launchpad, but it can only give you attention,” he says.
However, the work does not stop after the show ends. According to him, long-term success still depends on discipline, talent and consistent work.
In other words, a reality show can open a door. But staying relevant requires much more than temporary popularity.
Aadesh Chaudhary on Acting and Stardom
Aadesh also spoke about the difference between being an actor and becoming a star. For him, both represent different sides of the entertainment industry.
He associates stardom with aura, fan following and screen presence. Acting, meanwhile, is about craft, honesty and transformation.
“A star can pull people to the theatre, but an actor makes them stay and feel,” he says.
Acting Comes First for Aadesh
For Aadesh, acting has always been the priority. He believes stardom should come as a result of consistent work rather than being the only goal.
“I have always wanted to be an actor first,” he says.
Moreover, he feels an actor’s craft is what can sustain a career over time. Stardom may bring attention, but the ability to perform keeps an artist connected with audiences.
Therefore, Aadesh sees fame as a possible byproduct of good work. If stardom follows, he considers it a blessing.
How Social Media Changed Celebrity Culture
The actor also reflected on the impact of social media. According to him, digital platforms have completely changed how audiences see celebrities.
Earlier, stars were mostly seen on the big screen or during selected public appearances. As a result, they had a certain mystery around them.
“Earlier, mystery was magic,” Aadesh says.
Today, however, social media has removed much of that distance. Fans can see celebrities through posts, stories, videos and live interactions almost every day.
Has Social Media Reduced the Aura?
Aadesh believes the traditional celebrity aura has changed because stars are now constantly accessible.
“We are in everyone’s bedroom, on their phones 24/7,” he says.
Therefore, he believes celebrities need to find the right balance. They can remain connected with fans without sharing every detail of their personal lives.
Why Privacy Still Matters
According to Aadesh, celebrities should be accessible. However, they should also maintain certain boundaries.
“I feel there should be a balance,” he says.
For him, actors can share their work, thoughts and creative journeys. Still, every part of their personal life does not need to become public content.
This balance can help celebrities maintain a genuine connection while also protecting their private space.
The New Meaning of Celebrity Aura
Aadesh believes aura is no longer simply about staying away from the public. Instead, it comes from dignity and knowing what to keep private.
“Aura is not created by hiding; it’s created by dignity and by what you don’t show,” he says.
Ultimately, his comments highlight how quickly celebrity culture is evolving. Reality television has made stars more relatable, while social media has made them more accessible.
At the same time, Aadesh believes acting and consistent work remain important for anyone looking to build a lasting career.
