Babul Supriyo’s Heartfelt Apology to Asha Bhosle a Day Before Her Demise: “Maaf Kar Dena Didi…” 🎙️

The music world is still mourning the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away on April 12 after battling a chest infection and extreme exhaustion. She had been hospitalised shortly before her demise.

With a career spanning more than eight decades, Asha Bhosle shaped generations of music lovers. Consequently, tributes continue to pour in from across the entertainment industry, celebrating her timeless voice and unmatched legacy.

Among those deeply affected is singer and Rajya Sabha member Babul Supriyo, who shared emotional memories — including a poignant moment from just one day before her passing.

An Emotional Apology on Instagram

Interestingly, Babul Supriyo had posted a heartfelt apology to Asha Bhosle on Instagram just a day before her demise.

He wrote, “Maaf kar dena Didi…” along with folded hands emojis. The apology came after he used AI technology to recreate her original voice for his new track Inteha 2.0.

Notably, the song is a club mix version of the classic Inteha Ho Gayi from the film Sharaabi, originally composed by legendary music director Bappi Lahiri.

Following her passing, the post has taken on deeper emotional meaning for fans and the music community alike.

“Artists Like Her Never Leave”

Meanwhile, Babul Supriyo described the loss as deeply personal. He recalled sharing the stage with Asha Bhosle for decades.

“Artists like Asha Bhosle never leave. They live in our lives forever. This feels like a deeply personal loss for me. I’ve shared the stage with her since 1996 and learned so much from her,” he said.

Furthermore, he remembered her warmth during difficult times.

“When my mother passed away during the pandemic, she called me and said I could reach out to her anytime. My only regret is that I couldn’t visit her bungalow in Panchgani,” he added.

A Lesson in Style and Confidence

Additionally, Babul shared a memorable story from their first US tour in the late 1990s. Initially, he wore formal suits for performances. However, Asha Bhosle had different advice.

“She didn’t say anything for the first two shows. Before the third, she told me to dress according to my age. She suggested jeans, T-shirts, and casual jackets. I was surprised but instantly felt more comfortable,” he recalled.

As a result, the advice boosted his confidence. The very next day, he went out and bought casual outfits.

Her Discipline and Love for Music

Moreover, Babul Supriyo praised her dedication and discipline. He fondly remembered receiving his first cheque of ₹40,000 signed by her — a moment he still treasures.

He also highlighted her rigorous approach to singing.

“Even at her age, she practised regularly. She believed singers should read lyrics multiple times, understand them, and rehearse with the music director before recording,” he shared.

However, he noted that such traditions are slowly fading, with songs now often sent digitally before recording sessions.

A Missed Opportunity

Meanwhile, Babul revealed that about a year ago, he received a call about a possible show with her. Unfortunately, the event never materialised.

“Everyone who knew her personally will miss her deeply. But her songs will live in our hearts and souls forever,” he concluded.

A Legacy That Lives On

Ultimately, Asha Bhosle’s voice defined generations. Her music crossed languages, eras, and styles. Even today, her songs continue to inspire artists worldwide.

For Babul Supriyo and countless others, she was more than just a legend — she was family. And as he beautifully put it, artists like her never truly leave. 🎶✨
