Tubi’s New Horror-Comedy ‘Buzzkill’ Hits the Streamer This Fall

Tubi is ramping up for spooky season with Buzzkill, a horror-comedy that brings together young stars Siena Agudong and Brec Bassinger for an unconventional take on the slasher genre. The film will drop exclusively on the free streaming platform on September 25, 2026.

Directed by Jem Garrard, Buzzkill flips the script on typical slasher fare by mixing genuine scares with outrageous comedy. The story centers on a group of sorority sisters who find themselves trapped with a murderer on the loose. But here’s the twist: their best shot at survival rests on Nora, played by Agudong, whose drunken memories might hold the key to identifying the killer.

Nora is a party girl at her sorority who gets caught up in a nightmare scenario when a killer starts targeting her friends. The catch is she can only access the memories that might help crack the case when she’s intoxicated. As bodies pile up, she has to piece together her fuzzy recollections before becoming the killer’s next victim.

The setup gives the movie an offbeat blend of horror and comedy while playing with genre conventions audiences know well.

Agudong takes the lead role as Nora, stepping into an unconventional protagonist role. She’s previously starred in Sidelined: The QB and Me, its sequel Sidelined 2: Intercepted, and Resident Evil. Notably, her last Tubi project, Sidelined 2, became the platform’s most-watched original feature.

Bassinger, best known for Stargirl and Final Destination: Bloodlines, rounds out the ensemble cast. Musician and performer Aliyah’s Interlude, who appeared in English Teacher, also joins the lineup.

Garrard directs from a screenplay by Suzanne Keilly, who worked on Slumber Party Massacre. This marks Garrard’s latest project after directing R.L. Stine’s Pumpkinhead.

Rather than playing it straight, Garrard has designed the film as a deliberate departure from typical horror conventions. Instead of a capable heroine, audiences follow a character who constantly makes bad decisions and is fundamentally unprepared for the mayhem around her. Agudong has praised the approach, noting that the cast was encouraged to study classic horror films before deconstructing genre tropes in unexpected ways.

‘Buzzkill’ arrives on September 25, 2026, exclusively on Tubi perfectly timed for the lead-up to Halloween. The film marks a fresh addition to the streamer’s horror offerings for 2026.
