Peacock is moving forward with a straight-to-series order for a live-action adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s bestselling LitRPG novels Dungeon Crawler Carl, with Seth MacFarlane’s Fuzzy Door Productions producing.
Peacock has ordered a live-action Dungeon Crawler Carl series based on Matt Dinniman’s bestselling novels. Seth MacFarlane and Christopher Yost are attached to the highly anticipated adaptation.
Christopher Yost, known for his work on Thor: Ragnarok and The Mandalorian, will write and executive produce the series. MacFarlane will executive produce alongside Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald at Fuzzy Door, while Dinniman is also set to executive produce.
The narrative centers on Carl, a Coast Guard veteran who becomes one of the few survivors of an alien invasion that decimates humanity. Trapped in a deadly intergalactic game show alongside Princess Donut—a talking show cat belonging to his ex-girlfriend—Carl must navigate the chaotic “Dungeon Crawler World” while battling monsters, aliens, rogue AI systems and other survivors. All the while, millions of viewers across the galaxy tune in to watch their struggle unfold. The franchise has become a juggernaut in the LitRPG genre, with millions of copies sold worldwide.
Universal International Studios acquired the adaptation rights in 2024, bringing MacFarlane and Yost on board early in the process. The network’s decision to greenlight a full series demonstrates confidence in both the source material and its passionate fanbase.
The project represents another major collaboration between Peacock and MacFarlane following Ted. No casting decisions or premiere date have been announced, though production is expected to begin soon.
