John Oliver to Host Comic Relief Live’s 40th Anniversary Benefit at Carnegie Hall

John Oliver is returning to host ‘Comic Relief Live’, the annual comedy benefit that raises money for children and families struggling with poverty. The ‘Last Week Tonight’ host will take the stage at Carnegie Hall in New York on October 19, 2026, for what promises to be a star-studded evening of comedy with a cause.

The event will mark 40 years of Comic Relief, the charity that has built its reputation on combining laughter with philanthropy. Oliver, who hosted the benefit last year, is continuing his relationship with the organization as it celebrates this milestone anniversary.

This year’s benefit will feature performances from comedians Mary Beth Barone, Zarna Garg, Josh Johnson and Roy Wood Jr., all set to perform at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. The lineup brings together some of comedy’s most recognizable names for an evening dedicated to raising funds and awareness for families in need.

Money raised from ticket sales and donations will go directly toward programs providing housing, meals and education to children and families facing poverty.

The 2026 event marks a significant milestone for Comic Relief, which got its start with a legendary 1986 HBO special featuring comedy legends Billy Crystal, Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams. Since then, the organization has become synonymous with turning entertainment into impact.

The charity’s reach extends globally through its famous Red Nose Day campaigns. Last year, Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day raised more than £30 million in the U.K. to support vulnerable people.

During the benefit, Comic Relief will present its 2026 Visionary Award to ServiceNow, honoring the company for its work expanding opportunities for young people and supporting youth-led initiatives. Karen Pavlin, ServiceNow’s chief workforce innovation officer, will accept the award on behalf of the organization.

Comic Relief Live takes place Monday, October 19, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Carnegie Hall. Individual tickets and package deals went on sale September 9. All proceeds benefit Comic Relief’s community partners working to support families facing poverty.

With Oliver back at the helm and a powerhouse comedy roster joining him, the 2026 edition of Comic Relief Live is shaping up to be an unforgettable night one where laughs directly translate to real help for families in need.
