Minka Kelly Bids Emotional Farewell as Netflix Cancels ‘Ransom Canyon’ After Two Seasons

Minka Kelly is saying goodbye to Ransom Canyon. Netflix has pulled the plug on the Texas-set romantic drama after just two seasons, and the actress took to Instagram to share an emotional farewell with fans and her castmates.

Kelly, who played Quinn O’Grady throughout the series, posted a video montage on September 11 featuring some of the show’s most touching moments between her character and Josh Duhamel’s Staten Kirkland. She set the clips to Frankie Valli’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” and included a heartfelt message thanking everyone involved.

“Appreciating this little trip down memory lane as we say farewell. All good things must come to an end. And so it is,” Kelly wrote. “Thank you all for giving us two beautiful seasons! I love you forever my Ransom Canyon family!!”

The cancellation came just weeks after the second season dropped on July 23, 2026. Netflix confirmed the decision less than two months later.

The network’s decision appears to be driven by viewership challenges. The second season attracted fewer viewers than the first, even though internal feedback on the creative quality was stronger. The shortened second season also didn’t help—it ran just eight episodes compared to the original 10.

Created by April Blair, the show centered on three ranching families in a small Texas town dealing with land disputes, family legacies and complicated relationships, with Quinn and Staten’s romance at the heart of it all.

The season finale finally united Quinn and Staten after a rocky romantic journey, with Quinn turning down a marriage proposal from her British boyfriend Oliver to reunite with the rancher. Showrunner April Blair had expressed enthusiasm about exploring what comes next for the couple in a potential third season including domestic life, new challenges and the realities of building a future together.

Kelly herself had discussed the possibility of diving deeper into Quinn and Staten’s relationship beyond their courtship, tackling the real-world challenges of cohabitation and starting a family.

That story will now remain untold, though both seasons remain available to stream on Netflix.
