Netflix’s ‘Untold’ Returns With New Documentaries on Raygun, Vince Young and Mr. T

Netflix is dusting off its popular ‘Untold’ sports documentary series this summer with three fresh films that dig into the stories behind some of pop culture’s most polarizing figures.

The streaming giant will kick things off on Aug. 25 with ‘Untold: The Testimony of Vince Young’, directed by John Henion, which revisits the former NFL quarterback’s tumultuous career. A week later, Netflix turns its lens to Raygun, the Australian breakdancer who became an unexpected center of global conversation during the Paris Olympics—though not entirely for the reasons she’d hoped.

The trilogy wraps up on Sept. 8 with ‘Untold Mr. T: I Pity the Fool’, directed by Scott Weintrob. The film examines the legendary action star’s rise to fame and cultural impact.

The staggered release schedule reflects Netflix’s strategy of treating each documentary as its own event rather than just another title lost in the shuffle of a bulk drop. It’s a calculated approach designed to keep audiences engaged over the course of two weeks.

The ‘Untold’ franchise, created by filmmakers Chapman Way and Maclain Way, has carved out a niche by examining the untold angles of widely recognized public moments and the personalities at their center. This new batch maintains that formula while spanning sports, entertainment and the messy space where fame collides with public perception.

The series has become one of Netflix’s go-to vehicles for exploring controversial sports and pop-culture moments through an in-depth documentary lens, transforming the ‘Untold’ banner into a recurring event audiences now anticipate.
