As for the ending, like all downward spiral concept films, the end does become a downer and a bit predictable. But see it for Denzel, he is brilliant.
ROMAN J. ISRAEL ESQ. – “….I am tired of doing the impossible for all the ungrateful people…”, says “ROMAN J. ISRAEL ESQ.”, played by Denzel Washington. This is a very important scene in the film where the character of his takes a curve in life in finding and finds easy way out, in a corrupt judicial system, or rather a business scheme for legal firms to flourish.
The film is about an honest lawyer that followed principals that helped the people and activists in need of clear representation that would get convoluted by prosecutors in court for people the that seek their freedom and innocence.
Denzel Washington outshines in his role, and gets into the skin of this unusual nerdy character that gave his life for the spirit of law. Colin Farrell lends support to the cast as his boss later on.
