Tom Holland Returns in Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer With Hulk Battle and Punisher Alliance

Tom Holland is officially back in the red and blue suit. Sony Pictures just dropped a new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving fans their best look yet at what’s coming next in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and it’s packed with surprising twists.

The film picks up four years after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, with Peter Parker living in isolation. Doctor Strange’s memory spell has wiped him from the minds of everyone he loves, but that hasn’t stopped him from protecting New York City. Now, a mysterious threat combined with strange changes happening to his own body are pushing him to his breaking point.

According to the trailer, Peter’s spider DNA is undergoing some kind of mutation. That’s where Bruce Banner comes in. Mark Ruffalo returns as the scientist, though the footage suggests things could get complicated quickly—with the Hulk potentially becoming an obstacle before the two eventually work together.

The real shocker? Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher, shows up in the film. Fresh from his appearance in Daredevil: Born Again, the antihero reluctantly joins forces with Spider-Man as Peter faces mounting threats, including Scorpion, the Hand, and a mysterious villain with the power to possess others.

Zendaya returns as MJ, though the emotional weight of the previous film lingers—she and Ned still don’t know Peter is Spider-Man. Jacob Batalon also returns as Ned, while Sadie Sink makes her MCU debut in a role that’s already got fans speculating.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton is at the helm for Holland’s fourth solo turn as the web-slinger. Holland himself has called the movie a “detective story” and claims it’s the best Spider-Man film they’ve made yet.
