Australian Actor Josh Heuston Cast as Lead in ‘Throttled’ Film Adaptation

Australian actor Josh Heuston has landed the starring role in ‘Throttled’, an upcoming film adaptation of Lauren Asher’s bestselling romance novel. The project marks yet another instance of a popular book finding its way to the big screen, this time bringing Asher’s contemporary romance to audiences worldwide.

The film is based on ‘Throttled’, part of Asher’s ‘Dirty Air’ series a collection of romance stories centered around the fast-paced world of Formula 1-inspired racing. Heuston’s character will navigate the high-pressure demands of professional motorsport while caught up in the central romance that drives Asher’s narrative.

Heuston has quickly made a name for himself in international film and television. The casting positions him at the helm of a romance franchise that already boasts a dedicated fanbase, while potentially introducing Asher’s beloved characters to viewers unfamiliar with the source material. His work in Australian television and streaming projects has made him particularly recognizable to younger audiences.

The shift from page to screen reflects a broader industry trend. Major studios and streaming platforms have increasingly turned to bestselling romance titles as source material, banking on built-in audiences and the success of recent book-to-film conversions.

Asher’s ‘Dirty Air’ series has attracted readers drawn to its blend of workplace tension, romantic drama, and high-stakes relationships. With ‘Throttled’ combining racing, romance, and dramatic competition, the film adaptation could appeal both to existing fans of Asher’s work and to general moviegoers discovering the story for the first time.

Further casting announcements, director details, and release information are expected as production moves forward.
