Filmmaker Christophe Honoré is bringing a deeply personal family drama to the screen with Orange-Flavoured Wedding, which debuted an exclusive clip at Cannes this week. The film stars Adèle Exarchopoulos in a story that examines what happens when a wedding day forces a French family to confront decades of unresolved pain.
Set in March 1978 near Nantes, the narrative follows Jacques, the youngest of seven siblings, as he marries his neighborhood sweetheart Martine. On the surface, it’s a love story. But the film asks a harder question: can love actually heal the wounds we carry from childhood?
Honoré wrote and directed the film himself, working with production company Les Films Pelléas and Chi-Fou-Mi Productions. The project has already found significant backing—both Canal+ and Netflix have pre-purchased distribution rights, while French distribution will fall to Ad Vitam.
The clip offers audiences a glimpse into what promises to be an intimate exploration of how family dynamics shape our capacity for love and forgiveness. With Exarchopoulos leading the cast, the drama appears poised to resonate with viewers drawn to character-driven narratives about complicated family relationships.
